Year 1 enjoyed watching the classic animated film 'The Snowman and The Snowdog' at the New Theatre. The Peterborough Music Hub orchestra performed the soundtrack live alongside a selection of festive music favourites.
Year 2 went on a school trip to Peterborough Cathedral as part of their RE work about Christmas. They explored how Mary was feeling when she received the news about having a baby, learnt more about the long journey they took to Bethlehem and discussed how the news was spread to the shepherds. They also looked at how different people celebrate Christmas and explored the meaning of advent. The children then had the opportunity to learn more about the stained-glass windows within the cathedral and had a go at making their own.
On Friday 15th November, 2 teams represented Heritage Park against Woodston in our local football league. The children worked really well as a team supporting each other.
On Thursday 21st November, the team played their next league match at Oakdale. Despite very cold weather conditions, they rose to the occasion and really chased down each ball and opportunity.
Year 5 went to the Space Centre in Leicester on the 15th November. The children enjoyed learning about the earth, moon and sun and visiting the planetarium. The children enjoyed exploring the space centre.
As part of Anti-Bullying week, we celebrated Odd Sock Day. The children came to school in odd socks. It was an opportunity for children to express themselves and celebrate their uniqueness.
Physics
Year 4 has been learning about electrical circuits. They were challenged with designing and making different types of switch to investigate how they work in a circuit. Have a look at how they managed to succeed.
Oodles of Noodles – Collaborative Maths learning. Year 4 enjoyed problem-solving in a morning Maths puzzle.
Year 4 used a Venn diagram to express time, place and cause using adverbials, conjunctions and prepositions.
On Thursday 7th November, some children from Year 6 took part in an interschool hockey competition. We are very proud of their sportsmanship, the way they represented our school and the amount of goals they amassed!
This term, Year 2 have been learning about Edward Tingatinga. They explored different paints before completing their final pieces in the style of their artist. They chose different African animals that they had been learning about in geography for the basis of their pieces.
Year 6 enjoyed their residential at PGL Caythorpe. The children all pushed themselves to try new experiences and took part in a variety of activities including: abseiling, giant swing, archery, zipwire, ambush, orienteering, nightline, canoeing and a disco.
